Welcome To The Family

We are excited that you and your child have chosen to play football and cheerleading for the Sharpsburg Indians Youth Association (SIYA). We look forward to working with your child and teaching them the fundamentals of football/cheer, spirit of good sportsmanship, individual discipline and the concept of working as a team.

What's the difference between recreational leagues and Travel teams? Where all kids will usually get a chance to play regardless of ability). Travel teams are also sometimes called elite teams, select teams, club teams, or tournament teams. Young athletes can reach a point where they are bored with rec league play.

How many games are played? Between 6-10 regular season games with the possibility of two more weeks for playoffs.

Do you take parent volunteers as assistant coaches? Yes.

When does your season start and end? The season starts in August and ends in November.

What would my son gain from travel football? A travel team may be the best way for your son to learn new skills, meet expert coaches, progress in their sport, and have fun in the process.

What are the team colors? Metallic Gold, Dark Purple, and White.

What are parents expected to do? In addition to getting players to practice and games on time, parents are expected to be ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS in the league. We need parents as field greeters, concessions, fundraising participants, field clean up, weigh masters, team mom, etc. The league is made up entirely of volunteers and each parent will be asked to help out in some way.
